Case study is a valuable instructional tool for advancing knowledge and skills in
clinical practice. In this SIG 4 activity, learners will read three peer-reviewed case study
presentations emphasizing unique aspects of stuttering treatment in preschool children
and adults. The first article presents the case of a preschool-aged child who stutters.
Based on this case, the author describes unique challenges that emerged during
Lidcombe therapy and then describes practical resolutions. The second article also
describes stuttering treatment with a young child, but this child has an accompanying
speech sound disorder. The authors explain how they approached therapy, considering
potential interactions between speech sound therapy and stuttering. Then, the last article
describes the effectiveness of a mindfulness program on five adults who stutter, three of
whom reported enhanced life quality post-treatment. Despite the varying degrees of
impact, each participant expressed an intention to integrate the principles of mindfulness
into their future life activities. Learning
