Down syndrome is a genetic syndrome characterized by unique anatomical and physiological traits; medical complications affecting movement, respiration, feeding, and metabolism; intellectual disabilities; as well as dysarthria and other communication challenges. This webinar shares evidence-based techniques that target motor speech, voice, fluency, and functional language to maximize intelligibility and comprehensibility of speech and language for individuals with Down syndrome.

Jennifer
Gray, MS, CCC-SLP, owns and operates Grays Peak Speech Services,
LLC, a private practice in Colorado, offering teletherapy and community-based
services in early intervention and private practice. She also offers
consultations and continuing education opportunities for clinicians working
with people with Down syndrome. For over 20 years, she has worked to improve
speech clarity and oral functioning for those with moderate to severe
communication and feeding needs, while advocating for innovative methods that
work. She is a member of the Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group, the National
Down Syndrome Congress, and the Global Down Syndrome Foundation to support
better speech, language, and feeding guidelines. Speaking regularly to parent
groups and clinicians at state and national conferences, as well as through
invited podcasts and webinars, allows her to share Down syndrome-specific
resources sorely needed by clinicians, teachers, medical professionals, and
families around the world. Jennifer continues to seek and develop
evidence-based techniques to ensure functional outcomes for educational,
social, and independent living success.
