ASHA Learning Center and ASHA Learning Pass Terms of Use and Other Policies

Please read these terms and conditions of use carefully before using the ASHA Learning Pass and ASHA Learning Center.

By using the ASHA Learning Center and/or ASHA Learning Pass, you signify your assent to these terms of use. ASHA reserves the right, at its discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of these terms at any time. Please check these terms periodically for changes. Your continued use of the ASHA Learning Center and/or ASHA Learning Pass following the posting of changes to these terms will mean you accept those changes.

The ASHA.org Privacy Statement and ASHA.org Website Terms of Use also govern the use of the ASHA Learning Center and ASHA Learning Pass.

Definitions

The "ASHA Learning Center" is the online space where you take, track, and manage your participation in continuing education (CE) courses that ASHA produces.

Most courses ASHA produces are housed in the ASHA Learning Center. When you register for, purchase, or access a CE course by ASHA (whether as part of the ASHA Learning Pass or a la carte), you must log into your ASHA Account and navigate to the ASHA Learning Center in order to access the course content and learning assessment.

The exceptions are online conferences and in-person events (e.g., ASHA Convention, ASHA Schools Connect, and ASHA Health Care Summit). If you register for or participate in an online conference or in-person event, you access the content outside of the ASHA Learning Center, but you must log your session participation via the ASHA Learning Center to get CE credit and a certificate of completion.

Unless explicitly stated on a per-course basis, you do not need to be an ASHA member in order to participate in ASHA's CE courses and use the ASHA Learning Center and/or ASHA Learning Pass.

The "ASHA Learning Pass" is an annual subscription (for an annual fee) that gives you unlimited access to ASHA's catalog of online CE courses offered for ASHA CEUs/professional development hours.

The ASHA Learning Pass does not include access to live in-person events (such as ASHA Convention, ASHA Schools Connect, or ASHA Health Care Summit) or online conferences. Some content is restricted based on the subscriber’s role or other conditions (e.g., participation in an ASHA online conference, SIG affiliation, CE eligibility, etc.).

"ASHA Professional Development" or "APD" is the name of the ASHA Approved CE provider within ASHA that creates the courses offered by ASHA and registers them for CE credit.

ASHA Learning Pass: Purchase, Billing, Use, and Cancellation

Automatic Renewal for ASHA Learning Pass

ASHA Learning Pass subscriptions begin on the date of purchase and last for 1 year from that day. Subscriptions then renew for a 1-year period from the purchase date and every year thereafter with the credit card on file. You will receive an email reminder on or around 35 days before your credit card is charged for your new access period.

Subscribers who received their ASHA Learning Pass subscription as part of a group purchase should contact the individual who made the purchase to discuss renewal options. Subscriptions purchased as part of a group do not automatically renew.

Cancelling ASHA Learning Pass

Customers can cancel at any time by logging into their ASHA Account and selecting Manage My ASHA Learning Pass. Upon cancellation, your subscription will not renew and no future payments will be processed. Subscribers who cancel can continue to use the ASHA Learning Pass and all its benefits for the remainder of the access period for which they previously paid. All course completions and certificates will remain in your ASHA Learning Center even after your ASHA Learning Pass access ends.

14-Day Money-Back Policy for ASHA Learning Pass

ASHA is proud to offer the highest quality CE products. If for any reason you are not satisfied with your ASHA Learning Pass experience, you can cancel by logging into your ASHA Account and selecting Manage My ASHA Learning Pass. To receive a refund, you must contact us within 14 days of your purchase by calling the Action Center at 888-498-6699. Subscribers can get a refund only if they call within 14 days of the new purchase (or credit card charge for a new access period) and if they have not claimed any CE credit during this period. There are no refunds or credits for cancellations after this 14-day period or if you have claimed CE credits therein.

If a new Learning Pass subscriber purchases an online conference or other special event at a subscriber-only discount and then cancels their Learning Pass within the 14-day period, the refund or credit will be reduced by the amount of the discount received on the online conference or special event.

Payment Method for ASHA Learning Pass Auto Renewal

ASHA uses an encryption token to keep your data secure; we do not store your full credit card information. You can update your payment method at any time by going to your ASHA Account and selecting Manage My ASHA Learning Pass. Following any update, you authorize us to continue to charge the applicable payment method.

Rates for ASHA Learning Pass

Regardless of any introductory offers, special promotions, or discounts you may take advantage of during your initial purchase, your ASHA Learning Pass will automatically renew at the full (nondiscounted) ASHA member/nonmember rate (plus tax, if applicable) on the date of renewal. (Discounts or special offers do not apply to renewals.) Current subscribers can see the full ASHA member/nonmember rates in the ASHA Store.

Certain ASHA CE purchases (e.g., special events) may qualify purchasers for a discount on a new Learning Pass subscription. At the same time, current Learning Pass subscribers may qualify for a discount on certain ASHA special events. The same purchaser cannot receive a discount in both directions (i.e., when a current Learning Pass subscriber purchases an online conference registration at a discount, that does not qualify the purchaser for an additional discount on their Learning Pass renewal as well). As stated above, discounts or special offers apply to the initial Learning Pass purchase only, not to Learning Pass auto-renewals.

ASHA reserves the right to change the ASHA Learning Pass or adjust pricing for our service or any components thereof in any manner and at any time as we may determine in our sole and absolute discretion. Except as otherwise expressly provided for in these Terms of Use, any price changes or changes to your subscription plan will take effect following notice to you.

Group Purchases of ASHA Learning Pass

Discounted rates are available for ASHA Learning Pass subscriptions purchased in a quantity of three or more. See the Group Pricing page for rates. As mentioned above, ASHA Learning Pass subscriptions purchased as part of a group do not automatically renew. Subscribers who received their ASHA Learning Pass as part of a group purchase should contact the individual who made the purchase to discuss renewal options. If the purchaser decides to renew all or some of the ASHA Learning Pass subscriptions, they need to call the Action Center at 888-498-6699 to process the renewal over the phone. They may also add additional learners to an existing group by calling the Action Center at 888-498-6699. ASHA Learning Pass subscriptions purchased as part of a group do not qualify for discounts to special events. ASHA Learning Pass subscriptions purchased as part of a group end 1 year from the purchase date and must be activated by group members within 14 days of purchase. ASHA Learning Pass subscriptions purchased as part of a group are nonrefundable and nontransferable and must stay with the same individuals who are enrolled as part of the group for the entire year.

ASHA Learning Pass Hardship Access

ASHA members experiencing significant financial hardship and unable to pay for any professional development programs can get short-term free access to the ASHA Learning Pass. Complete the hardship access registration form. Members should consider whether their circumstances fit the above-stated intent before completing the registration form. Free hardship access to the Learning Pass is available by the calendar month and is available for ASHA members only. Members whose hardship is ongoing after the initial free access period ends can complete the form again. Members who are utilizing the hardship access do not qualify for discounts to special events. Hardship access is nontransferable. As stated above, at ASHA's discretion, if we believe someone is abusing the hardship access, we reserve the right to ban the account and to restrict all future use of the service.

E-mail Communication

When you subscribe to the ASHA Learning Pass, you agree to receive periodic engagement emails with updates on new courses, content highlights, and more. While we hope you will find these emails helpful, you can unsubscribe at any time.

Learner Profiles

Every individual who accesses the ASHA Learning Center has the option to fill out a Learner Profile. These data are used by ASHA to help us highlight and add courses that meet your individual needs. This information is separate from any demographic information you enter on your ASHA Account, event registration, or other ASHA forms, and making a change in your Learner Profile will not update your information anywhere else in ASHA’s systems.

Continuing Education/Credit Policies

Course Expiration/End Dates

All courses in the ASHA Learning Center and ASHA Learning Pass have dates for which they are eligible for CE credit. The date ranges are clearly listed on the course detail page in the ASHA Store and the ASHA Learning Center.

Courses that have been purchased a la carte are available (both the content and the CE credit) until the published end date.

ASHA Learning Pass subscribers have access to the content and learning assessment (required for CE credit) until the last day their ASHA Learning Pass is active or the published course end date, whichever comes first. If you let your ASHA Learning Pass subscription lapse, you will lose access to courses during that period. It is important for you to be aware of which courses are expiring and to take the necessary actions to complete the course, including the learning assessment, before the date of expiration. ASHA is not responsible for an individual's failure to complete required CE credits on time because of an expiration issue.

In some cases, if you do not complete a CE course by the published deadline and have extenuating circumstance, you can initiate an appeal.

A learner can earn CE credit one time per course. After you complete the learning assessment and earn CE credit, you can continue to access the course materials until the course expiration date, but you can only earn CE credit one time, even if you complete all the content subsequent times.

CE Credit Appeals Process

To earn ASHA CEUs or professional development hours (PDHs) and to receive a session report/certificate of completion, participants must report their sessions and/or complete the learning assessment (exam or open-ended self-assessment question) online by the published date. If you need a record of the sessions you attended or courses you completed—or think you may need a record in the future—you must report for credit or complete the learning assessment by the published deadline. See full appeals policy

Learning Assessments

All courses require you to demonstrate your learning to earn ASHA CEUs/professional development hours. Subscribers can claim CE credit by attesting to having completed all portions of the course and completing the learning assessment. Once you complete the learning assessment, you have immediate access to a certificate of completion.

ASHA Learning Pass subscribers do not have to earn CE credit for all courses they access; however, if you do want to earn CE credit, you must follow the instructions to complete the learning assessment.

ASHA-produced courses typically use one of two learning assessment formats:

(1) Self-assessment—Many courses require you to think about things you learned and report how you will use your new knowledge in order to earn ASHA CEUs/professional development hours. Be sure to fill out and submit the Completion Form/Learning Assessment (available in the ASHA Learning Center as part of the course) to get CE credit.

(2) Exam—Some courses require passing an online, multiple-choice exam to earn ASHA CEUs/professional development hours. Refer to the questions for review (available in the ASHA Learning Center as part of the course) as you go through the course materials and note your answers as you go. Then take the online exam and get your results immediately. Tests have an open-book approach. You may start a test, close it, flag questions, and review your answers as often as you like before submitting your final test. You have up to three attempts to take and pass the exam. If you don't pass after three attempts, email ashaprofdev@asha.org.

Note: Some states require that CE courses include an exam to count toward state requirements, so we recommend that you check with your state before getting started with a program that includes a self-assessment.

CE Registry

ASHA-produced courses (whether taken a la carte or as part of the ASHA Learning Pass) are offered for ASHA CEUs via the ASHA CE Registry. Check with your state licensure board to be sure they also apply to your state license maintenance. ASHA CEUs are awarded through the ASHA CE Registry to SLPs, audiologists, or speech/language/hearing scientists. To receive ASHA CEUs, eligible individuals must join the ASHA CE Registry. Joining the Registry is optional. If you choose not to join the Registry, you may track your own professional development hours (PDHs). If you belong to the ASHA CE Registry, your participation in online courses is typically reported to the Registry within 48 hours after you submit the learning assessment; for in-person and online conferences, participation is typically reported to the Registry 2 weeks after the reporting deadline, provided you have finalized your session report.

Course Content

Live Webinar Cancellation/Postponement

If a live webinar must be postponed or cancelled for any reason, every effort will be made to notify registrants via email. If an event is to be rescheduled, all registrants will be notified of the new date and time. You will have the option to (1) attend the course at the new time, or (2) participate in the on-demand version of the course.
